Albert "Bert" Edward Avery (January→March 1883 — 14 November 1914 (aged 31)) born in Buckfastleigh, Devon, was an English rugby union and professional rugby league footballer of the 1900s and '10s, playing representative level rugby union (RU) for Devon, and at club level for Plymouth and Devonport Albion, and playing representative level rugby league (RL) for Great Britain, England, and Lancashire, and at club level for Oldham, as a , or , i.e. number 8 or 10, 9, 11 or 12, or 13, during the era of contested scrums, his death was registered in Oldham, he died one-year after his brother had died in similar circumstances.〔Tom Mather (2010).
